The house it stood there proudly
While the wind whipped up the leaves
The autumnal shades bespoking
Of weather's tiredness, how it grieves
The shingles on the roof appear
To be a part of rusted vision
A fatigue and a weariness
The need to make decisions
The weathered beams that make up all
The walls and verandahs round
Are painted in a conducive shade
An orange sort of brown
Thankfully the owners of
This mountain cottage high
Have tended to the grass and raised
The flags up high to fly
An American flag is raised before
This dwelling out the back
Of Appalachian mountains
And the people who cop flak
The locals are accused of being
Rednecks and the like
But everyone who likes outdoors
Goes there for a hike
The countryside is beautiful
Especially days like these
While autumn sun is setting
And there's a slightly chiller breeze
